Fact: I’ve dreamed about my wedding shoes ever since I was a little girl. I can remember going to weddings with my Grandma – mostly of people I didn’t even know – and without fail wanting to see the bride’s shoes. I would whisper to my Grandma, “Do you think she’ll let me see her shoes?” And every time Grandma would walk me over to the beaming bride and I’d get a peek at the mysterious heels hiding under yards of tulle.
My mom wore this exact sixpence in her shoe on the day she walked down the aisle to my dad. Since then she has kept the silver coin on her charm bracelet. We had it removed so I could wear it in my shoe as my ‘something borrowed’ piece – another special memory to treasure.
One afternoon my mom and I met up with my Grandma to walk around the mall. I wasn’t planning on “wedding shoe shopping” that day, but these gorgeous Manolo Blahnik pointy toe lace pumps had just been put out on display, and I was dying to try them on. From the vintage-inspired lace detail to the elegant crystal-encrusted embellishment I had no doubt they would be a winner wedding shoe. My mom may or may not have tried to convince me to keep looking because #splurge, but as soon as I tried them on we all loved them. A handful of gift cards later, and the glass slippers were mine.
I bought these clear shoe protectors since I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking + dancing on my wedding day. For the record, these are the most comfortable heels I’ve ever worn. I danced in them the entire night!
I love this picture. It brings me back to those memories I had as a little girl. I think it’s even sweeter that my Grandma just happened to be standing in the corner of the photo.
Below I selected some beautiful shoes at every budget perfect for walking down the aisle on your big day!
